Boulder City Police Department has an excellent Part-Time Police Officer Program. Part-time Officers give over 12,000 hours a year to the Police Department, enabling more Police Officers to be available on the street and to the community. The Police Department also offers its unique Citizen's Academy Program.

Part-Time Police Officer Program:
The Boulder City Police Department is assisted in its mission by the Part-Time Police Officer Program. The part-time officers are composed of men and women dedicated to providing a service to our community. These part-time officers are composed of citizens with a varied background, many with a desire to enter a career in law enforcement and some with only an interest in serving the community. These part-time officers perform a variety of tasks within the Police Department. Some of those tasks include patrol, where the reserve officers go on work patrol assignments as either a partner with a regular police officer or as a solo reserve officer (depending on State certification), issue traffic citations, conduct investigations and file reports. The part-time officers also work special events, providing crowd and traffic control, provide prisoner transports to area jails, and are on call to assist the Police Department in the event an emergency exists.

Part-time police officers are paid $10.40 an hour and are scheduled for 30 hours of service each month. Part-time officers are provided with law enforcement training and assistance in obtaining certification with the State of Nevada. The Part-Time Police Officer Program has become a stepping stone for many current police officers throughout Clark County. The selection process for reserve officers is similar to that of a full-time police officer. Applicants for part-time police officer must be certified as either category I or category II Nevada peace officers.

If you are interested in becoming a part-time police officer for the City of Boulder City, you must obtain an application from the Personnel Department at City Hall. Applicants will then be required to participate in an oral interview, with successful candidates undergoing an intensive background check. The Police Department is dedicated to providing professional part-time police officers to assist its citizens. If you feel you have an interest in this program, please contact the Police Department for further information or obtain an application from City Hall to begin the process.

Citizen's Academy Program:
This program serves to educate the citizens of Boulder City on what type of training a Boulder City Police Officer goes through, and to give a better understanding of a police officer's job.
